Attractions on-site

The guests at Agriturismo Il Borgo can spend quality time outside - relax in the shade of pine trees, swim in the pool, play tennis or go hiking or cycling around the picturesque neighbourhood (the hosts provide free rental of regular and mountain bikes).

Attractions in the area

One particular attraction of this region is Lake Trasimeno – a perfect space especially for fishing. Among the most interesting historical landmarks of Cortona is Palazzo Comunale – a 1200s palace located on Piazza della Republicca (one of the two central squares of the town), Duomo Santa Maria Assunta – a church built in the 4th century on the ruins of a pagan temple, St. Francis’ church (Chiesa di San Francesco) and Basilica di Santa Margherita – the church of the town’s patron saint, St. Margaret. Also worth visiting is the Diocesan Museum (Museo Diocesano), where one can admire the treasure of the Tuscan art created over a span of two thousand years, the Etruscan Museum which shows Cortona’s beginnings or Museo di Farneta Centro di Interpretazione delle Raccolte Don Sante Felici opened in 2006, which holds part of an enormous palaeontology collection collected by the former parish priest, Don Sante Felici, during his many years of studies and scientific research.

On top of that, Cortona is home to numerous holidays and festivals, such as Festa religiosa di Santa Margherita (St. Margaret's day), Tuscan Sun Festival, Cortona Mix Festival, Colata dei Ceri (candle making) or the Mostra scambio del modernariato in Piazza Signorelli modern art exhibition.
