A place one should definitely take a closer look at is the Wigry National Park, where the facility is located. This charming place full of lakes and forests, together with the Augustow Primeval Forest, was featured in the 2004 European program of Natura 2000, which is a place where birds are under a special protection. Cycling enthusiasts will definitely be happy to know that Pensjonat Wigierski is surrounded by numerous bike trails, the most important of which is Eurovelo R11 – an international bike trail. The main advantage of the commune of Krasnopol is numerous lakes, such as Jegliniec, Gremzdel, Biale, Zubrowo, Gluche or Klejwy, as well as rivers – such as Czarna, Marycha, Czarna Hancza, Zubrowka and Pawlowka, as well as forests that the Krasnopol Forest is most famous for, good for hiking and perfect for mushroom picking. On top of that, it’s a great idea to visit the local „Marycha” preserve, created to protect beavers’ lodges and breeding grounds.
